If you haven't tried the latest version of X-Plane 10, you're really missing out on some serious aviation eye candy! It's better than FSX in my opinion (and it even runs on Macs), plus it's infinitely programmable for weather, failures, flight situations, and even formation flying. You can even practice carrier catapult launches and landings. Here are some screen caps to show why I like it so. Not only is it cheaper than Flight Simulator, it also comes with all the world scenery you need, plus a much larger variety of default aircraft.

I may at some point load up the latest version. I still have FSX, but I have not started it up for almost 3 years. FSX has a wide user base that modifies everything from terrains to aircraft so even though the base game may not have what you like you can probably download a free copy (or paid copy) of whatever you want. Our own Kobra =kjbl= has done some terrains for it.
